Darby barware is an extensive family on a chord of retro, clubby luxury. This crystal is distinguished by its incredible weight and soul, with tailored horizontal cross-cutting over deep paneled and scalloped vertical cuts, evoking something of a plaid design. This vintage settee is a perfect example of the transition of the center of the art world from Paris to New York that occurred in the 40's.  Like so many pieces of the time, the slightly curved shape and plush velvet offer a romantic escape from the pulls of urban living.  The smaller footprint of the piece makes it easily able to be called home in a variety of spaces.
